- ADHESIVES
3M is the only window film provider that produces its own adhesive system developed specifically for window film. This patented pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) is engineered to form an aggressive mechanical bond to the glass that can be easily removed at the end of its useful life, unlike chemical bond (CDF) systems that go into the glass pores and are difficult and costly to remove. The result will be a clean, long-lasting installation
- UV INHIBITORS
3M places the UV inhibitors in the adhesive coating! No other film manufacturer has this capability. As a result, the 3M adhesive coating is protected against the damaging effects of the sun’s ultraviolet radiation! With most competitors’ films, the UV inhibitors are sandwiched between the adhesive coating and first layer of polyester, thereby exposing their adhesive system to premature aging.
- ABRASION RESISTANCE
3M Abrasion Resistant Technology allows them to apply a much more durable hard coat than the competition. This technology protects the film from scratching or demetalizing when the film is bumped, touched or cleaned. Tested according to ASTM-1044 Standard Method of Test for Resistance of Transparent Plastics to Surface Abrasion, the 3M Abrasion Resistant Coating has been proven to be 6 to 10 times harder than coatings on lower priced films.
- PRODUCT TESTING
3M uses state-of-the-art testing facilities to assure film quality. Prolonged testing assures long-term film durability, color stability, adhesive performance and resistance to metallic corrosion and maintenance of performance characteristics. The tests performed are published by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and are available upon request.

To make a claim under this warranty in the United States or Canada, first contact your installer. If the installer is not available, simply contact 3M at 1-866-499-8857. 3M will direct you to an installer selected by 3M to have your 3M™ Automotive Window Film inspected and, if your claim is covered, 3M will have the installer provide the stated remedy. Please retain this warranty card as it must be presented along with the original invoice to receive warranty service. Form must be complete for warranty to be valid.

1) TSER – Total Solar Energy Rejection: The percentage of total solar energy rejected by filmed glass. The higher this value, the less solar heat is transmitted.
2) VLT – Visible Light Transmitted: The percentage of visible light that passes directly through filmed glass: the higher the number, the lighter the film.
3) Ultraviolet Rejection: The percentage of ultraviolet (UV) light that is rejected by the filmed glass. UV light contributes to the fading and deterioration of fabrics and leather.
4) IRR – Infrared Rejection: The percentage of solar infrared energy rejection, over the wavelength range from 900-1,000 nm. Infrared rays are primarily responsible for the heat you feel when driving
5) IRER – Infrared Energy Rejection: The percent of solar infrared energy rejection over the wavelength range from 780–2,500 nm. IRER takes into account the transmitted and absorbed IR energy that will be reradiated into a car.
6) Glare Reduction: The percentage by which visible light is reduced by the addition of film.
